Victor Balio

Victor Balio is a qualified Brazilian lawyer, admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association in 2018. He has a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from the Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (UNICAP) and holds a Master of Laws degree in International Business Law from the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where he graduated with merit. During his LLB in Brazil (2013-2018), he worked for both large and boutique law firms, with a background in corporate, commercial, mass litigation and public law. He served as a judicial intern at the Court of Justice of the State of Pernambuco (TJPE), working in the Mediation and Arbitration Chamber. He worked as an advisor at the Consulate of Finland in Recife between 2015 and 2021, collaborating with the development of public policies, facilitating investments, and promoting sustainable businesses. In 2018, he was one of the three founding partners of a Law Firm, leading the Public Law team, managing public and private contracts, coordinating litigation on the superior courts and on the federal accounting court.
In 2021 he was selected by the fully funded British scholarship, Chevening, to pursue his Master of Laws degree in London. The program selects leaders to pursue a Master’s in the UK, where they can develop skills to promote positive social impact and enhance the relations between the candidates’ countries and the UK. During his time there, he was one of the organizers of the Brazil Forum UK, held at the University of Oxford, an event proposed as a platform for the democratic debate about the socioeconomic development of Brazil.
He is currently the Secretary-General of the International Relations Commission, and a member of the Customs Law and Foreign Trade Commission, both from the OAB/PE. Fluent in Portuguese and English.
